Forest School Lesson 7
Today was the final Forest School session for the children in Year One. They had a fantastic treat of cooking hot dogs and eating them on the fire! The children thought they were super yummy!
They also made bird feeders using lard, pinecones and bird feed to help the birds get through the hard Winter ahead. The children were so happy to be helping nature and they hope that lots of birds and animals will use their feed during the next few months.
The children then finished off by making nature collages and pictures using the different resources and materials around them. They used glue to make nature collages using leaves, grass and flowers.
Well done Year One for a fantastic term at Forest School! Please see pictures of the children's super Forest school session from this week below and we are so proud of all their fantastic work this half term.
Please note that Year One have finished their Forest school sessions for this year so will now need to come to school on a Wednesday in normal uniform.
Forest School Lesson 6
Today the children in Year One had their sixth forest school session of the term with Miss Mapother. Their lesson today was completely fairy tale themed and the children had to completely use their imaginations!
Using the outdoor wildlife they made different things such as fairy crowns using leaves, fairy potions using mud and water and even dens for fairy tale creatures. The children were brilliant at getting their hands dirty and using the different resources around them to create a variety of fairy tale ideas.
The children were so proud of the different things they made and worked so hard. Well done Year One! Please see pictures of the children's super Forest school session from this week below.
Forest School Lesson 5
Today the children in Year One had their fifth forest school session of the term with Miss Mapother. Their lesson today was all about being creative and arty! They began the lesson by hunting for natural resources in the forest school area such as twigs, berries, leaves., grass etc. The children then made a natural collage picture out of the objects they found in groups and created a picture using God's creation. All of the artwork collages represented objects found from nature and objects which God has made. The Year One's artwork looked so beautiful and they worked together fantastically as a team to create them! Please see pictures of the children's super Forest school session from this week below.
Forest School Lesson 4
Today was Year One's fourth forest school session of the term with Miss Mapother. They had a very exciting lesson today where they used clay to make various nature sculptures and crafts. They used the clay to make different crafts with leaves or twigs or to make different sculptures of their favourite animals or nature objects. Their various models reflected the children's love of nature and animals within Forest School and all the things they love about working outside. The children also focused on creating bigger dens for themselves today. Before they had made dens for animals but for this session they had to think about making their dens bigger for humans and more sturdy with lots of shelter. This is so that they were suitable for people to live in. Please see pictures of the children's super Forest school session from this week below.
Forest School Lesson 3
Today the children had their third forest school session of the term with Miss Mapother. They were focusing on creating different nature projects today. The children began by collecting different leaf rubbings from the forest school area and using them to make different pictures. They also made dens for their puppets using resources and materials from the Forest School area. They ensured they used natural materials and foliage to create their den shelters. Finally they took part in team building exercises with partners on the obstacle course, ensuring they were safe and looked after each other. The children loved the session today and were wonderful at their different nature challenges and activities. Please see pictures of the children's session below.
Forest School Lesson 2
Today the children had their second forest school session of the term with Miss Mapother. They revised the rules for using Forest School and the campfire and then moved onto making dens. They used the forest school area to collect folliage and shelter materials to create their dens. The children also found bugs from the woodland area to put in their dens as pets. The children loved the session today and were super at creating and building their own den shelters! Please see pictures of the children's session below.
Forest School Lesson 1
Today the children had their first forest school session of the term with Miss Mapother. They went over the rules for using Forest School and the campfire and explored the woodland area. They did a bug hunt, used binoculars to find different trees and birds and played different games to explore and get to know the space. The Year One children had a wonderful session and they can't wait for next week! Well done for your fantastic behaviour and for being true forest school adventurers! Please see pictures of the children's session below.
Autumn 1 Term 2021
ALL YEAR 1 CHILDREN
In Autumn 1 Term, from Wednesday 8th September 2021, something very exciting is going to be happening! Every Wednesday afternoon Year 1 will be having a 'Forest School' session as part of their enrichment timetable. This will involve being outside and working in whatever weathers so the children need to be dressed appropriately for the environment they will be working in and the changing weather conditions.
Therefore, each Wednesday in Autumn 1 Term your child should come to school NOT wearing their school uniform. They need to wear the following:
- Old, warm clothes that you do not mind your child getting dirty e.g. an old pair of tracksuit bottoms, warm jumper or sweatshirt, woolly hat, gloves and a scarf.
- Old, warm waterproof coat
Please also ensure that your child comes into school with a labelled plastic carrier bag containing a pair of wellington boots and a pair of warm long socks. These can be kept in school if you would prefer.
Thankyou for your support and co-operation.
