Friday 15th January 2021

Don't forget to have all your online work on the blog or on jit 5 by 3pm today. At 3pm I will be announcing the top three house point winners this week so if you don't have your work in by then you will be too late and your housepoints for today won't be registered. Good luck everyone! Click on the link below to find out the top three at 3pm.

Don't forget also that I will be resetting the house points back to 0 over the weekend so that everyone will start on Monday with the same score or house points. This will happen each week. As everyone starts on the same score on Mondays at the start of every week this means there is all to play for and anybody can win!

Good Morning Year One

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I hope you have all had a wonderful week and have enjoyed learning at home- congratulations on

making it to the end of your second week of remote learning! It has been such a pleasure to see all of your fabulous work on the blog this week and I have been busy having  phone calls with all of your parents. I have so loved checking in with you all and it seems like you are all working extra hard at home. The feedback from all your parents has been so lovely and they have truly put a smile on my face this week so thank you. It is almost time for the weekend and make sure you wrap up warm because we may have some snow again again according to the weather! I absolutely LOVE snow and always think it looks so pretty over everything.

It is almost time for the weekend... just a few more hours of learning to go! Don't forget to complete your Big Maths and Spelling Test online and to try and get onto our Perfect Score Leader board. I will also be announcing the top three winners at 3pm on the House Point Winners page so make sure you tune in! Don't forget today is only a half day and that we finish our learning straight after lunch on a Friday... unless you want to do more of course! Thank you for all your hard work at home and have a relaxing and fun filled weekend. Remember to stay safe and I look forward to seeing all your fantastic learning on Monday.

Remember, if at any time you have any queries about the home learning or if you need any support, please send me an email to the address below - strose1@olstrose.bham.sch.uk.

Kind Regards,

Friday Spelling Test on J2 Blast

- For 15.1.2021 Spellings

Please complete your weekly Friday spelling test using J2 blast which is on the BGFL App Launchpad. You should have been practising our spelling all week and you can complete the test on here and  play lots of fun games! I will also be able to see your weekly score on here and see any spellings you have got wrong ( if any.)

I will be announcing those children that have got 10 out of 10 on their spelling test every week in the Spellings and Big Maths Leaderboard Folder which is at the top of the Year One Remote Learning Page. I have outlined some simple instructions below for how to find J2Blast and complete your spelling test.

If you can-not access the BGFL launchpad and j2blast for any reason I have also given a copy of the spellings below. Your parents or families can use these spellings to test you at home and you can then upload a picture of your spelling test to the blog. I would really encourage you to try and use j2blast online if you can as it is so much easier!

Please now go onto the Big Maths website and complete your CLIC and Learn it Tests online. You have been practising them on paper all week but if you do not complete them online I can't see your scores! You have all had your logins sent home in the plastic wallet pack and if you click on the picture below it will take you straight to the Big Maths website.

I will be announcing those children that have got 10 out of 10 on their Big Maths CLIC or Learn it's every week in the Spellings and Big Maths Leaderboard Folder which is at the top of the Year One Remote Learning Page. Good luck!

Daily Mile- Get Moving!

This is your daily reminder to have a break from your work and to keep healthy and active! You need your exercise so make sure you now run around your garden for 15 minutes or go on a 30 minute walk.

Online Work

It is time for you to practise your online Maths and Reading Phonic Skills. You can either try and move up a level on Numbots or read some books or sound lessons on Active Learn, complete your Big Maths Tests online or try out some spelling games on j2blast.

Numbots helps children with their sums and with counting and recognising numbers. This is very Year One friendly and helps children to improve their Maths fluency and recall in addition and subtraction facts.

Active Learn  has access to thousands of online reading books to help the children practice their Phonic sounds and become fluent readers. The more books they read the quicker they will progress in their reading so you need to be using and accessing this website regularly.

Big Maths helps them to recall number facts quickly in their learn its test and practise their skills for their CLIC test on Friday.

You can now access your weekly spellings online using J2 blast which is on the BGFL App Launchpad. Don't forget that you will have to sign into BGFL first and then access the j2blast through the app launchpad. You can practise your spellings online here and play lots of fun games to help you learn them throughout the week!

Friday Afternoon- Free Time

WELL DONE- YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR SECOND WEEK OF REMOTE LEARNING FROM HOME! Normally on Friday afternoon we finish at 1pm so on Friday afternoon there will be no afternoon subject set today. This is your time to have your free time and to rest and relax after a busy week of home and remote learning! I want you to have lots of rest and relaxation so that you are refreshed and ready to go on Monday Morning- make sure that you spend some time outside this weekend in the fresh air outside and away from the computer. YOU DESERVE AND NEED A BREAK! There is extra work below if you want to do more for those keen beans and you can always use your online work to challenge yourself but this rest time is very important! Have a lovely and relaxing weekend and thank you for all your hard week this week Year One!

Extra/ Challenge

Please find attached some books that you may wish to read about the virus. They are a great resource and can be used for reading and discussion with an adult. There are also some non- screen activities for your child to complete at home to get them away from the computer and trying something different. ENJOY!
