A message from Miss Hand...

Hi Reception,

How are you all today? Well done once again for all your hard work this week! You have been doing such fantastic learning at home which is so wonderful to see. Mrs. Barnett and I find it so hard to choose the star of the week each week, because of how hard you are all working. We think you are ALL superstars! We have chosen somebody this week who hasn't been the star of the week on the link below to see this week's star of the week video. smiley

I am currently having trouble getting onto my email. This has been the case since Thursday morning and so I do apologise if you have tried to contact me since then. We are trying to fix this issue, but if you need any support with anything in the meantime, please contact the school. This unfortunately also means that I haven't been able to post a link for the daily register. As soon as this is sorted, I will post it on this page. Hopefully it will be sorted at some point today.

Update - this now all working again. smiley

Please continue to post on the blog if you are able to. I am loving seeing your photos/videos and messages! If you need any help with how to post on the blog, please click on this link -

The link will take you to a video which Miss Murphy has created to help with accessing/posting on the blog.

I hope this helps!

I hope you all enjoy today's activities. Remember that we finish school after lunch on a Friday! I hope you all have a really lovely weekend with your family at home. Stay safe and well.

Thank you for all your support,

Miss Hand and Mrs. Barnett smiley

Star of the week

Hi Reception! Please click on the link below to take you to the star of the week video!

Star of the week video - Friday 22nd January 2021

Morning routine

We always start our morning by talking about the date and weather. We sing the days of the week song and we discuss the date - what day was it yesterday, what day is it today...tomorrow? If yesterday was the 21st, what is today? What is one more than 21... Perhaps you can talk about the date and weather at home. There is a youtube link of the days of the week song below.

Days of the Week song

Basic skills

1. High frequency words - I wonder if you can practise reading/writing some of the high frequency words. I've put the Reception high frequency words and the other sets if needed (bands 1-30) in one document below. There are also flashcards for the Reception high frequency words. Have a go at reading the bands and see which band you're working within.

2. Have a look at the 'I can see document' below. Take a look at Day 5.

I wonder if you can write something about this picture? I wonder if you can think of your own sentence or perhaps you could write another ‘I can see’ sentence. I can see... It is up to you! If this is a bit tricky, you could have a go at writing some sounds/words.

3. Word of the day - Take a look at the document of slides below. Take a look at Day 5 and complete the activity!

Collective Worship

Please click on the document below to see this week's Collective Worship. Please look at Friday -

I am a new Creation

Today we are continuing our new story of Jack and the Beanstalk. I have added the story powerpoint below and all of the other resources that you will need in one document.

Today I would like you to read the story and then have a go at some writing. There are two different templates. You could either have a go at writing a sentence or two about the story - use the word mat to help you with tricky words. You also have a sound mat and a high frequency word table to help you.

Or you might like to write some sounds/words/simple sentences about some of the pictures. It is up to you!

Think about what you'd like to write - what sounds can you hear in the word? Can you write them down?

If you want to write a sentence, think about what you would like to write. How many words are in your sentence? Count them using your fingers...What's your first word? Have a go at writing it down. Remember to start with a capital letter, remember finger spaces between each word and a full stop at the end of your sentence. smiley

Snack time and this week's Nursery rhyme...

Mary Had a Little Lamb

This week we are looking at mass and capacity. There will be a small activity each day.

Take a look at the lesson resources below.

1.) Link to lesson video - Alive in 5! Week 3 - Session 5 - Measuring ingredients

2.) Lesson activity card.

This lesson is all about measuring ingredients to make your own play dough. If you don't have the ingredients at home, don't worry. If you do, it might be a nice to make with your family. The recipe in this lesson has quite a few ingredients, one of them being cream of tartar which you may not have.  I have added a link to another recipe below which uses the following ingredients - plain flour, salt, vegetable oil, warm water and food colouring (optional). smiley

End of the day story

Today's end of the day story - Shark in the park! I hope you enjoy it! smiley The man reading this story is the author and illustrator of this story. At the end of the story he shows you how to draw his favourite character in the story. You might want to have a go at this. Enjoy! smiley
