Homework for Autumn 2

We have a new program that the children can use on any devices at home. This is called Readtheory and they trialled it on the iPads today and they thoroughly enjoyed it! This website is specifically designed to their ability and uses reading texts to answer questions on a quiz. This helps with the children's reading comprehension which is really vital for their work and assessments so as the children enjoyed it so much today, we hope that you can encourage them to use it in balanced amounts too! Badges can be earned and this will total to housepoints and prizes in the classroom. The children's login details shall be sent out tomorrow but once again we appreciate your support.

Just a quick note to say thank you so much to those who are uploading their homework to the blog, I am definitely seeing some great work and we appreciate your support and co-operation. For Autumn 2 homework starting from 3rd November until Christmas there is an updated Homework Grid with the new topic related homework tasks which you are required to complete and upload to the blog from now until Christmas. Please continue to complete the original tasks if you have not already and please complete the new homework tasks that you can see are highlighted in yellow on the homework grid below. A copy of the homework grid shall be sent home with your child on 3rd November.

Once again, thank you very much for your co-operation, hard work and support and if there are any problems at all please do not hesitate to contact me via the office telephone number or email by leaving a message and I shall return your call/email.

Thank you,

Miss Mapother & Mrs Hawkins :)

What is an acrostic poem?

Use these layouts/examples as an idea for your poem...

Due to the current circumstances and advise from the government, we shall not be sending out paper homework or asking for homework books in.

Children should complete the homework on the homework grid and this includes 1 home learning activity a week. The contents of the homework should then be added to the blog for Mrs Hawkins and I to see and assess. Please find the link to the homework grid below and these shall also be in their homework books which will be sent home on Monday 14th September 2020.

We thank you for your support once again.

Miss Mapother & Mrs Hawkins.

How to upload to the Year 3 Blog

As we are approaching the end of the first half term, you should have done some of your homework. It has been made aware to me that some children are a little unsure how to upload their homework to the blog so I have created a step by step guide to help you. I hope you find it useful, if there are any issues, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I am looking forward to seeing your lovely homework. Thank you to those who are already uploading, I can see you are creating some fantastic work.

Please find the guide below...

We ask that your child does a little bit of homework to progress and practice the skills learnt in school.

We ask that your child...

  • reads every night with you at home, even if this is just a few pages at a time, and we ask that you sign their reading record so we can see.
  • practices their spellings ready for their spelling test every Thursday. A copy of their spellings for the week can be found on the 'SPELLING' link on the Year 3 class page or by clicking this link below...

  • practices their skills on times table rockstars and active learn to progress and develop their Maths and English skills. The links for these sites can be found on the 'HELPFUL ONLINE RESOURCES' link on the Year 3 class page or by clicking this link below...
  • practices the skills they need to develop on their big maths sheets (these will be sent home with the children on a Tuesday) and they should be ready for their BIG MATHS test on a Friday morning.
