A Message from Miss Murphy....

Happy Monday Year One and welcome to a brand new week! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend at home with your families and loved ones. I can't wait to see more wonderful work from you this week on the blog- make sure you keep posting!

 

You may notice that the class page looks a little different this week- I have made a loom video below where you can see me taking you through the new layout of the class page. I inform you of where everything is and what work you need to complete daily. I will be making a brand new video for the start of the week every Monday so make sure you keep tuning in! This week we start a brand new topic of Length in Maths, we will be focusing on a mix of Reading and Writing for English and we are learning about different Bible Stories in RE. It is also Children's Mental Health Awareness Week- there is an assembly for you to watch and enjoy and a website with lots of free resources and activities in the 'Extra' section of this page. Make sure you check out our Guided Meditations which we will using to finish off our learning every day this week.

Beat That and CLIC Tests

 

 

Please click on the PDF below and find the Beat That Test and CLIC Test with your name on. ( There should be 2 tests each.) Please print, practise and complete at home each day Monday- Thursday. You can then do your final online test on Friday morning. Please do NOT do your online test until FRIDAY MORNING so I can then see the final test results for everyone after you have practised. Your online Big Maths test should be your final test score and should be done at the end of the week.

RE- Being A Good Samaritan

Then think about how you can be an example of a Good Samaritan in your life- what would you need to do?  Could you help the sick, be kind to people, give money to charity etc? Daily Mile- Get Moving!

Extra/ Challenge

 

Children’s Mental Health Week is taking place on 1-7 February 2021 and we

really want all of you to get involved. This year's theme is 'Express Yourself'.

There are lots of free resources on the website which can be adapted for use in school, for home-schooling, online lessons or independent learning. This is a really important week, especially in the difficult circumstances we are in and we want as many of you to get involved as possible. Click on the picture to access the website.

Twinkl has also got involved with Mental Health Awareness Week. It has lots of

fantastic free resources and activities for children's mental health. You can also search for 'Mindfulness' and 'Well Being' in the website search box and find lots of super resources, which are great for teaching younger minds all about how to feel positive and valued. The resources are fun, colourful and informative. Click on the picture to access the website and all the super resources.

Oak Academy has created a fantastic virtual school library for you

to enjoy with completely free videos and resources. Every week there is a brand new author of the week who will provide you with free books, exclusive videos and her top three recommended reads. They will also read you an extract from their book which is great for story time and for for helping your child to listen and engage with different books. The author last week was Nizrana Farook who wrote the fantastic book ' The Girl who Stole An Elephant.' Click on the picture to go straight to the website.
