Thursday 26th May 2022 - School Party
On Thursday 26th May the school will be celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The children can wear red, white & blue own clothes and we will be having a whole school, party afternoon in the playground.
As part of the celebrations all the classes have been allocated a decade to study. Year 2 are looking at the 1990s as part of the seven decades that Our Queen has been on the throne. This means that Year 2 will be learning a dance from the 1990s and teaching it to the rest of the school. The children are also learning a special song.
Year 2 are learning 'Saturday Night' from Wigfield. Please click on the link below and practice with the children. Start from 0.25 seconds as the first part isn't relevant!

Have a great holiday.

Year 2 will be participating in forest school for Autumn 2 on a Wednesday afternoon from 3/11/21. Please ensure that your child comes to school on Wednesdays dressed for forest school.
Clothing to wear should include warm clothes that you do not mind your child getting dirty in. Suggestions are an old waterproof coat, old pair of tracksuit bottoms, a warm jumper/sweatshirt, woolly hat, gloves, scarf etc as they will be going outside come sun, rain or snow.
Also the children should bring with them a pair of wellington boots and woolly socks in a labelled bag which they can change into when they undertake the activities.
It is such a fantastic experience for Y2 to have forest school and thank you all for supporting this activity.
Donations for Harvest Festival
On Thursday14th October we will be celebrating Harvest Festival.
Harvest is an exciting time where we will be talking to the children in class about different foods, where it comes from and how we can help other countries around the world. It links with our Science topic about plants we eat that we are doing presently.
On Wednesday 14th October we will be collecting together all the tins and packets of food etc from what has been sent in and distributing to the church food bank. It would be wonderful if each child in the class could bring at least one tin or packet of food in which we can then donate to charities and people in need. If you are able to spare anything then it will be greatly appreciated as in this unprecedented times there is a lot of local food needs.
Friday 1st October 2021
On Friday 1st October we are having an own clothes day to raise money for the charity 'Macmillian Cancer Support'. Everyone can come to school wearing green, that day, to support Macmillian. We kindly ask that if you wear your own clothes this Friday you please bring in a donation of £1 for this fantastic charity. As a school we want to raise as much money as we can so if you do come in your own clothes, please bring £1 too.
If you go to the life of the class you can see the pictures of what they wore!
Monday 20th September
The individual and Y2 whole class photo will be on Monday 20th September 2021.
House Point Logo Competition
We are going to re-design the House Logos and would like the Y2 children's help in coming up with some designs. Click on the link above with all the details.
Year 2 will be taking the national phonics check (29th November to 3rd December 2021) which replaced the original date in June 2021 that was cancelled due to the Coronavirus.
If your child needs to revisit the test, in June 2022, then we will be continuing to practise everyday throughout the rest of the year with those children.
If you pass the phonics then you will not have a phonics reading book from January 2022.
We are presently completing lots of catch up phonic sessions building up to the check but please practice your sounds everyday. If you want to find the resources then click on the link below.
We have also been using in class (as extra sessions)
which is the 'Letters and Sounds for Home and School' for the Y2 autumn term phonics screen check revision sessions. If you wish to support your child then this is great for revising what we are doing in class.
