Talk4Writing- Meg and Mog

Our Talk4writing book focus for the next few weeks is Meg and Mog. On Monday Meg came to visit to show us how to make a spell. Meg was very magical and out of her cauldron flew lots and lots of bubbles.

Nursery then had a go at making their very own potions in the 'Potion Lab' with lots of fancy dress, lots of weird and wonderful potions were created these can now be found to purchase in our potion shop.

Throughout the week children have worked really hard to retell the story independently. Ask your child to tell you all about it.

Ash End House Farm

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Our trip to the farm is on Friday 13th May and I am just updating you on some details. If you have not yet paid for the trip or brought in your permission slip please do so this week so we can confirm the place for the day.

Children should arrive for 8.45am and be collected at 3.05pm as usual.

If you have requested that your child will be provided with lunch from the school kitchen can you please send your child with a small backpack/bag for them to carry it in.  Children who bring packed lunches to school should bring it in a backpack or lunchbox so that is easy for them to carry around the farm.

We ask that all children bring an extra drink in a carton or disposable bottle for the day.

Please wear a school jumper/ cardigan with trousers that are suitable for outdoor learning. All parents must ensure that their child wears a waterproof coat and trainers on the day. Wellies will not be required due to the layout of the farm.

If you think that your child will require spare clothes on the day please send them along with your child in their own backpack.

School will provide a sun hat for your child to wear on the day.

If your child needs medicine or inhalers to come along on the day, please let a member of staff know this week.

Please note that all of your child’s belongings including lunchbox/bag, waterproof coat etc. need to be clearly labelled.

Thank you,

Miss Coleman and Miss Hand

Star of the week

Summer week 1

This week Stephen was our star of the week for always showing a good attitude towards his learning.

Nursery children have created some fantastic Easter gardens as part of their holiday project homework. Children have enjoyed talking about their gardens and how they have made them. The Easter gardens have helped with our learning about Easter.

Nursery were very proud to show off their wonderful creations. The children put in lots of effort and all the hats looked fantastic.

Nursery took part in Sports Relief 2016 by doing a shuttle run in their house teams. All the children tried their very best, lots of fun was had by all.

We celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book characters. Some of these included; The Very Hungry caterpillar, The Gruffalo, Elmer, Cat in the Hat, Harry Potter, Rapunzel and Princess Sofia.

In the afternoon parents and carers were welcomed in to share some special reading time with their children. A range of big books, story sacks, fiction and non-fiction texts were available for all to enjoy.

Inspire Writing Workshop

A BIG thank you to all mums, dads, aunties and grandparents that attended our workshop. It was great to have your support as we introduced you to our cursive writing policy. We look forward to planning the next one.
