Below is a list of websites that your child are expected to use access at home as part of their homework to help aid their learning. In Year One all of these websites are an essential and extremely useful as they will help with their Maths and Phonics fluency. Logins have been sent home for all of these websites so that your child can use them as part of their weekly homework. Please let me know if you have any problems accessing these websites at home and I will try and sort the problem for you as quickly as possible. Below I have given you the name of each website and an overview of how your child can benefit from using it at home.
Numbots helps children with their sums and with counting and recognising numbers. This is very Year One friendly and helps children to improve their Maths fluency, understand place value and recall addition and subtraction facts. By the end of Year 1, the children should be able to count on 2's, 5's and 10's and this website supports them with this.
Active Learn has access to thousands of online reading books to help the children practice their Phonic sounds and become fluent readers. The more books they read the quicker they will progress in their reading so you need to be using and accessing this website regularly.
Reading Eggs is the online reading program that helps children learn to read. It has hundreds of online reading lessons, phonics games and books for ages 2–13. Reading Eggs makes learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with great online reading games and activities.
Each week the children are tested on their Spellings with a weekly spelling test on a Friday. It is really important that your child practises these spellings each week to aid their Writing progress and composition. These spellings are either from the Year One Spelling List or from the 100 Year 1 High Frequency Band Words. Every week we will send home a paper copy of your children's spellings but the full weekly spellings for this half term are also shown below. Please learn your spellings for the appropriate week and keep practising! Don't forget our spelling tests will be every Friday morning.
