The Liturgical Group have been working hard this half term to prepare our children at St Rose for Advent. They have been working with children in EYFS and KS1 and helping them to learn different prayers such as the Our Father, hail Mary and morning and afternoon prayers.
The younger children have really benefited by having the support of the older children and have enjoyed their focused prayer time, taking time to be still and at one with Jesus. The Liturgical Group did a brilliant job at teaching the prayers to the children and supporting them as they learnt them. Having this time together has also helped our children inb their journey towards Advent. By spending more time in prayer they are preparing and waiting for the birth of Christ.
Please see photos of the Liturgical Group working in their prayer partners with Year 1 and Reception below. We are so proud of them for all their fantastic work!
Celebrating the Harvest
The Liturgical Group have really hit the ground running their first half term and have been brilliant at working on their first project all about The Harvest Festival. The children have worked brilliantly as a group to get the school ready and prepared for The Harvest.
All of the group have made posters for the Harvest to be distributed around the school and The Chair and Vice Chair made letters to send out about Harvest Donations. They also sent a letter to Father Gary asking what local charities might need our support. They have decided on the wonderful Saint Vincent Du Paul who are an organisation that work to help give food to families in Poverty in both Weoley Castle and the surrounding community.
All of the children at St Rose were brilliant at bringing in donations on Thursday 14th October- thank you so much for your fantastic support! All of our donations will be going straight to the Saint Vincent Du Paul Society and to families who need our help.
The Liturgical Group then organised these food items into a display and performed an assembly to the whole school on Friday 15th October all about the Harvest. They explained why we are celebrating this festival, where our food is being donated to and what this celebrations mean for us as Christians. They wrote, organised and practised the assembly weekly and it was wonderful to see all the children in the school engaged with their assembly. They have all worked so hard this term and we can’t wait to see what more we see from them!
