A message from Miss Hand...

Good morning Reception!
How are you all today? I hope you all had a great Wednesday!
Thank you once again for all your hard work! 2 more days to go until a very well-deserved half-term break for you all. This morning we have our usual activities and then this afternoon we have PE and Music.

Remember that tomorrow is Screen free Friday. In the morning you will find lots of ideas for activities to have a go at throughout the day. Choose some to do, and then enjoy your day of learning away from the screen. smiley
Take care, Miss Hand and Mrs. Barnett

Morning routine

We always start our morning by talking about the date and weather. We sing the days of the week song and we discuss the date - what day was it yesterday, what day is it today...tomorrow?

If yesterday was the 10th, what is today? What is one more than 10... Perhaps you can talk about the date and weather at home. There is a youtube link of the days of the week song and the months of the year song below. smiley

Days of the Week song

Months of the Year Song

Basic skills

1. High frequency words - I wonder if you can practise reading/writing some of the high frequency words. I've put the Reception high frequency words and the other sets if needed (bands 1-30) in one document below. There are also flashcards for the Reception high frequency words. Have a go at reading the bands and see which band you're working within.

2. Simple sentence - I wonder if you can write something about the picture? I wonder if you can think of your own sentence or perhaps you could write another ‘I can see’ sentence. I can see...

It is up to you! If this is a bit tricky, you could have a go at writing some sounds/words.

3. Word of the day - Take a look at today's word of the day and have a go at the activity if you are able to.

4. J2blast spellings - Click here to take you to the website/app where you can practise the words.

Collective Worship

Please click on the document below to see Thursday's Collective Worship.

1.) Daily devotion. 2.) Prayer time (I wonder if you can say or write your own prayer with adult).

3.) Practise singing the Hail Mary with sign language (video below).

Literacy - Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Today we are continuing our new story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

I have added the story powerpoint below and all the other resources you will need in one document. Today I would like you to read the story and then you have two options.

Option 1 - Write about the story

You might like to have a go at writing a sentence or two about the story or some sounds/words/simple sentences about some of the pictures. Use the word mat to help you with tricky words. You also have a sound mat and a high frequency word table to help you.

Think about what you'd like to write - what sounds can you hear in the word? Can you write them down?

If you want to write a sentence, think about what you would like to write. How many words are in your sentence? Count them using your fingers...What's your first word? Have a go at writing it down. Remember to start with a capital letter, remember finger spaces between each word and a full stop at the end of your sentence.

Option 2 - Porridge instructions - fill in the missing words

Fill in the missing words to complete the porridge instructions. If you have  the ingredients at home, you might like to make some porridge too. Yummy!

Snack time and this week's Nursery rhyme...

I know an old lady who swallowed a fly

3. Practise reading words with the previous sound in.

4. Watch a video to practise blending - air.

5. Practise writing the new sound (pre-cursive letter formation).

6a. Practise reading words with our new sound in. We segment the sounds and blend them together to say/read the word, e.g. the word -  cat - segment ---> c-a-t - blend ---> cat!

NEW

5. Learn/practise singing the Three Bears rap - Can you join in and do a low pitched voice for Daddy bear? What about a high pitched voice for Baby bear?
