Thursday 14th January 2021

Below you can find the lessons we are doing in class today and the order of our learning. However, if you are learning from home, you can do the lessons in whichever order you wish, as long as you try and complete all of them every day, where possible. Make sure that you post your online work onto the blog or save it as a file on the jit5 app write!

For each remote task you do from the timetable you will get 5 house points each- this means you can earn more than 50 house points or class dojos every day! We are using the class dojo house point system instead of j2stars and I will be announcing the three winners with the most house points every week. Everybody's points have been reset to 0 so there is all to play for! I need to see your work to give you the house points so make sure you either upload your work or pictures of it to the blog or complete it on jit and save it as a j2file. For any help on how to do this please click on the link below. The top three children each week will receive a special treat from me when they return to school. Have fun and earn lots of house points!

English

We are continuing to look at the first half of the book 'Not Now Bernard' which you can see below.

If you do not have the book at home to read please watch the video by clicking on the following link:

https://tinyurl.com/y5x4hxes

For today you are going to write the first half or part of the story. You are only writing up to where Bernard is eaten by the monster. ( Please don't write anymore as we will write the second half in a few weeks time.) Don't forget to use what you have learnt in previous lessons for your story. Try and use some plural words ( -s or -es ending) and make sure you use capital letters for any names and the beginnings of sentences.

There is a word document scaffold with some pictures below to help you if you get stuck. You can also print the document and write on there if you wish.

Weekly Spellings to Practise Daily

You can also access your weekly spellings online using J2 blast which is on the BGFL App Launchpad. You can practise your spellings online here and play lots of fun games to help you learn them throughout the week! I have outlined some simple instructions below for how to find J2Blast and get practising your spellings!

Big Maths- Beat That and CLIC Tests

Please click on the PDF and find the Beat That Test and CLIC Test with your name on. ( There should be 2 tests each.) Please print, practise and complete at home each day Monday- Thursday. You can then do your final online test on Friday morning.

Please do NOT do your online test until FRIDAY MORNING so I can then see the final test results for everyone after you have practised. Your online Big Maths test should be your final test score and should be done at the end of the week. (anyone who gets a full score for 2 weeks running will be moving up to the next level!)

Art-Miro and Using Line Part 2

Painting

Read through the PPT lesson below and then create your own Miro picture using paint to colour in the shapes. Look at your picture from last week to help you draw your lines in black felt tip pen. This task is similar to last week but you will be painting this time instead of drawing. By the end you should have a beautiful and colourful Miro painting. Make sure you paint very carefully inside the lines and have fun!

Daily Mile- Get Moving!

This is your daily reminder to have a break from your work and to keep healthy and active! You need your exercise so make sure you now run around your garden for 15 minutes or go on a 30 minute walk.

Online Work

It is time for you to practise your online Maths and Reading Phonic Skills. You can either try and move up a level on Numbots or read some books or sound lessons on Active Learn, complete your Big Maths Tests online or try out some spelling games on j2blast.

Numbots helps children with their sums and with counting and recognising numbers. This is very Year One friendly and helps children to improve their Maths fluency and recall in addition and subtraction facts.

Active Learn  has access to thousands of online reading books to help the children practice their Phonic sounds and become fluent readers. The more books they read the quicker they will progress in their reading so you need to be using and accessing this website regularly.

Big Maths helps them to recall number facts quickly in their learn its test and practise their skills for their CLIC test on Friday.

You can now access your weekly spellings online using J2 blast which is on the BGFL App Launchpad. Don't forget that you will have to sign into BGFL first and then access the j2blast through the app launchpad. You can practise your spellings online here and play lots of fun games to help you learn them throughout the week!

Extra/ Challenge

Please find attached some books that you may wish to read about the virus. They are a great resource and can be used for reading and discussion with an adult. There are also some non- screen activities for your child to complete at home to get them away from the computer and trying something different. ENJOY!
