A message from Miss Hand...

Good morning Reception!
How are you all today? I hope you all enjoyed yesterday's lessons. It's not long to go now until we

are all back together in school. How exciting!

Today is.... WORLD BOOK DAY! Click on the World Book Day image below to take you straight to the World Book Day page. Mrs. Richardson has organised a fantastic day for you all and created this page which is full of lots of lovely World Book Day activities. At the top of the page you will find a loom video where Mrs. Richardson talks you through the day and the MASKED READER COMPETITION!!! Please make sure you watch this video and if you are able to, please take part in the competition. The staff at school have been busy recording videos of themselves reading stories....but....our faces have been covered with memojis and our voices are disguised. Your job is guess which staff member is behind 'the mask' and which book they are reading. I wonder if you can guess which one I am? smiley yes

Today I have put your usual activities and then further down the page you'll find a variety of World Book Day activities that you might wish to have a go at. Remember there are also additional activities on the World Book Day page.

For the end of the day story you will find a library where you can choose a book or as many as you wish to read!

Have a great day! Take care, Miss Hand and Mrs. Barnett smiley

Morning routine

We always start our morning by talking about the date and weather. We sing the days of the week song and we discuss the date - what day was it yesterday, what day is it today...tomorrow?

If yesterday was the 3rd, what is today? What is one more than 3... Perhaps you can talk about the date and weather at home. There is a youtube link of the days of the week song and the months of the year song below.

Days of the Week song

Months of the Year Song

Basic skills

1. Practise writing your name - If you can already do this, have a go at your surname or even your middle name if you have one.

2. Simple sentence - I wonder if you can write something about the picture? I wonder if you can think of your own sentence or perhaps you could write another ‘I can see’ sentence. I can see...

It is up to you! If this is a bit tricky, you could have a go at writing some sounds/words.

3. Word of the day - Take a look at today's word of the day and have a go at the activity if you are able to.

4. J2blast spellings - Click here to take you to the website/app where you can practise the words.
