Tuesday 9th February

Morning greeting

Good morning Nursery. Today is e-safety day. E-safety is all about keeping us safe when we are using tablets, computers, phones and other devices. It is especially important this year as we have been using these more because we haven't been able to see our friends and family as much as we might like to. I hope you enjoy today's activities and remember please do post what you have been doing on the blog.

Collective worship

As our collective worship focus this week is kindness we are going to think about the story of The Good Samaritan. Today all you need to do is watch the video and discuss what happens with a grown up.

Literacy

Re-read the story of the Goldilocks and the three bears together. You can find a simple version of the story here https://s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/storymuseum/TheThreeBears_story_text.pdf

You can listen to an audio version here:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/radio/goldilocks-three-bears

And watch a ballet version of the story here:

Task - Re-read the story together, make your own puppets of the story and act out the story. You could use the puppets below but you definitely don't have to. You can be as creative as you like.

Maths

On a piece of paper draw an apple tree with four red apples. Can you draw another tree with the same number of apples on? Could you draw two circles with the same number of cats in? Or two boxes with the same number of toys in?

Phonics

Charlotte the chef is making silly sound soups. Each soup needs three ingredients that begin with the same sound. She has made ‘t’ soup with toffees, tomatoes and toast! Can you think of three foods that she can put in the ‘s’ soup? You can repeat this with lots of different sounds. You could even draw your soups.

When modelling the sound it’s important that this is accurate. On common mistake is pronouncing the “s” sound as “suh” rather than “sss” or the t sound as “tuh” rather than “t”. There is a link to the phonics pronunciation guide here  https://cdn.oxfordowl.co.uk/2016/05/05/20/22/32/561/20097_content/index.html?id=ae

E-safety day

It can be really hard to know where to start when teaching small children about being safe online. You want it to be appropriate, you don't want to scare anyone but it is really important to start early on. I really love the Smartie the Penguin resources as they are story based and explained really simply. https://www.childnet.com/resources/smartie-the-penguin

RE

This week's lesson is all about being grateful for the good things in our life. At the moment it can feel like it's a lot harder to be thankful when there are so many things we would like to do but can't. I also think that the past year has really highlight the things we take for granted.
