What are we learning this week?

Spring 1 - Week 1

We will be becoming familiar with the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

We will be trying to describe sounds we can hear.   

We will be learning positional language such as under, in, on and next to.

We will be continuing our unit on journeys by learning about how cold the North and South Pole are.   

We are going to learn that Mary is the mother of Jesus.   

Our PSHE session will focus on  We are each unique, with individual gifts, talents and skills.

Whilst we all have similarities because we are made in God’s image, difference is part of God’s plan!

We will be using watercolours to create still life paintings.  

 

Our Nursery rhyme of the week this week is: Humpty Dumpty.

We will also be taking part in lots of fine motor activities within the provision.

 

As well as using our gross motor skills to ride bikes and climbing on the climbing frame.

We will be doing assessments this week to provide a snapshot of the children’s progress.

We will be listening carefully to different instrumental sounds this week.

We will be continuing our unit on journeys by learning about modern modes of transport and transport that can carry us across the water.  

We are going to learn about the advent wreath as a symbol of Advent.  

Our PSHE session will focus on being grateful for what we have.  

We will be creating collages using winter colours.

 

Our Nursery rhyme of the week this week is: jingle bells.

We will be using a variety of ways to travel over and under apparatus.

 

We will also be taking part in lots of fine motor activities within the provision.

Autumn 2 - Week 4

We are continuing our learning around “Handa’s Surprise” by acting out the story with stor blocks and retelling the story using a story map.

We will be listening carefully to different instrumental sounds this week.  

The children will be focusing on counting to four,

We will be starting our unit on journeys by learning what a journey is and the types of transport that can take us on a journey.

We are starting our Advent unit and learning how we need to get ready for different things we do.

Our PSHE session will focus on how God created the world because of His love for us.

We will be learning about the colours we see in Autumn.

We will be creating bridges and tunnels with our bodies.

Autumn 2 - Week 3

We are going to be reading the story of Handa’s surprise this week. We are going to meet lots of new animals and create shopping lists to collect fruit just like Handa!

We will be listening carefully to different instrumental sounds this week.  

The children will be learning to identify circles and triangles.

We will be finishing our unit “All about me” by learning who can help us in an emergency. See if you can spot any emergency vehicles when you’re out and about this week.

We will be learning how important it is to say sorry when we have done things wrong.   

Our PSHE session will focus on the creation story.

We will be learning about different kinds of lines in art this term. We will be creating lines with a range of different media.

 

Our Nursery rhyme of the week this week is: 5 little speckled frogs.

We will be working on reaching and stretching to move equipment. We will also be taking part in lots of fine motor activities within the provision.

Autumn 2 - Week 2

We are continuing our learning around “We’re going on a bear hunt” by creating story maps and retelling the story using them.

We will be listening carefully to different instrumental sounds this week.  

The children will be comparing numbers within three using language such as more and fewer.

We will be focusing on how the leaves of some trees fall off in Autumn and in our second understanding the world lesson we will think about people who help us.

We will learn how the family of God gathers in church.  

Our PSHE session will focus on how God created the world because of His love for us.

We will be learning about different kinds of lines in art this term. We will start by creating straight lines.

This week we are going to be focusing on the text, “We’re going on a bear hunt”. The children will be getting familiar with the story through sharing it with an adult, acting it out and acting it out with puppets.

We will be tuning into sounds around us through barrier games, description and creating sound makers.

The children will be representing numbers within three to build on their counting skills.

As the clocks have just changed and the nights are drawing in, we will be learning about the four seasons and then focusing specially on how the leaves change in the Autumn. Have you seen any Autumn leaves on the way to school?

We will be starting our unit on God the Father by thinking about those people in our lives who love us.

Our PSHE session will focus on how God created the world because of His love for us.

We will be learning about different kinds of lines in art this term. We will start by creating straight lines.

 

Our Nursery rhyme of the week this week is: A sailor went to sea.

We will be working on balancing beanbags on different parts of our bodies in PE this week. We will also be taking part in lots of fine motor activities within the provision.
