World Mental Health Day and Word Homeless Day-
Saturday 10th October 2020
This weekend ( Saturday 10th October 2020) marks World Mental Health Day and World Homeless Day. As a class, I thought it would be lovely for us to be aware of this and mark these special days, especially as we are all self isolating at home. Therefore I have given some resources below which you can use to find out more about Mental Health and World Homelessness. The Twinkl website is fantastic for lots of Mental Health and Homeless activities and resource packs but you can also get creative... you could make your own craft, write your own prayer for the homeless or mentally ill or even make a poster with lots of information you have learnt. Make sure that you post anything you do about World Mental Health Day or World Homeless Day on the blog as I will be giving 50j2stars for every activity that you do.
Acts of Kindness
As it is 'World Mental Health Day' on Saturday, Miss Neville has had the lovely idea of asking the children to carry out acts of kindness this weekend ( Friday 9.10.2020-Sunday 11.10.2020) to show they are thinking of others. Not only will this make them think about Mental Health Day, but it will also allow them to reflect on how they can behave and act in the image and likeness of God. Especially this year, it is more important then ever to be kind on this very special weekend.
I really encourage all of Year One to think about acts of kindness and how they can carry them out this weekend. Free Radio are currently carrying out a campaign whereby they are trying to get 10,000 pledges of kindness by Saturday. I think this is something we could easily encourage the children to do at the weekend and they could take a photo of their 'act of kindness' and post it on the blog using #pledgekindness. Below you can find the link to both The Free Radio Website, where the children can sign the pledge, and other Acts of Kindness websites where you can also find lots of ideas for this weekend. I will be giving 100 j2stars for every act of kindness that year One child does this weekend and posts on their blog so come on Year One!
