Phonics reading book

This is the main reading book that your child will be given. It will be linked to the phonics sounds your child is learning in school. These need to be brought into school every day.  Please comment on Boom Reader (the online reading diary) when you read with your child. If Boom Reader has not been completed, then a new book cannot be sent home with your child.

You will receive a letter in the Autumn term about reading books and Boom Reader.

Here are some of the things that you could ask your child when reading with them:

• What do you think the story is about?
• Why do you think that this has happened?
• Why do you think that they have done that?
• What do you think will happen next?
• What can you tell me about this character?
• What was your favourite part of the story? Why?
• Can you tell me what this sound is? e.g. pointing to the 'c' in cat.
• Can we blend the sounds together to make a word c-a-t--->cat!

Boom Reader

Please read with your child every day at home. Each time you read with your child, please record what pages you have read and a comment about how they have read on the online reading diary, Boom Reader.

Maths Homework

Maths homework in Reception is set via the NumBots website. Please try and go on this for 10 minutes a week.
