Star of the Week

Spring 2 - Week 6

This week, our star of the week focus is for trying hard in Maths lessons.

We have chosen Unika because she is putting a lot of effort in when learning about new topics and has tried harder with layout, remembering to use one square per digit in her maths book. Unika has been more consistent in finding the right measurements when looking at rectilinear shapes. She remembers to include units of measurement in her answers. She has been listening carefully in class and has done very well in working out the perimeter of shapes. Well done Unika smiley

Spring 2 - Week 5

This week, the focus for star of the week was someone who is able to talk about and live out the Catholic Social Teaching themes in their everyday life.

Angel has been chosen, because not only is she able to speak about the Catholic Social Teaching themes, but she also demonstrates them in her everyday life.

She always shares with her friends, helps others in need and treats others with respect. She lends a hand to her classmates when they need help and she collaborates with others during group activities or school projects.

These actions reflect important ideas like the dignity of the human person, caring for our earth, and family and community.

Angel’s thoughtful behaviour makes the world a better place, which is exactly what Catholic Social Teaching is all about. smiley

Spring 2 - Week 4

This week, the children voted for who should be this half term's Mission Statement Luminaire.
The children wrote down the name and reasons why they thought their classmate should receive the award and it doesn't surprise us at all that our class luminaire is Teddy. Well done, Teddy! smiley

Spring 2 - Week 3

This week, our star of the week focus is being an enthusiastic scientist.

Yazid has impressed us with his team spirit when carrying out practical work. He is keen to use the right terminology in Science lessons and demonstrates a sense of scientific enquiry and curiosity. He also likes to ask interesting questions about the world around him.

Well done Yazid 😊

Spring 2 - Week 2

This week, our star of the week focus is being an aspiring artist!

Nicholas has really impressed us with his brilliant Oscar Romero cross. He took his time to carefully draw his images to complete his cross, with good attention to detail and fantastic presentation.

He worked well in a group to contribute in both the art workshop and also in our own Art lessons.

Well done Nicholas! 😊

Spring 2 - Week 1

This week, our star of the week focus has been nominated by Miss Ashby, after looking at the work in books during handwriting sessions and in all other subject books.

Miss Ashby chose Milka as star of the week.

Milka has made great effort and shows a conscientious approach to presentation in her class books. She is trying hard to make her writing very neat and uses cursive script in all lessons.

Milka has responded well to reminders about tidiness and of the importance of taking pride in her work. smiley

Week 4 Star of the Week - Joshua

This week has been another Moki active week, and our star this week, Joshua, is always active and moving!

Josh amassed over 10,000 steps with his Moki band, and always gives his all during Active 15 and PE lessons. His handball skills have been very impressive, especially his goalkeeping, and his attitude towards all forms of activity is wonderful.

Well done Joshua!

Week 3 Star of the Week - Valentina

This week we have focused on children who have improved their handwriting. After creating a shortlist, the class voted for their winner and Valentina won by a large margin!

Valentina is a very deserving winner of this weeks Star of the Week as she works incredibly hard to make her work neat and tidy. She has really focused on keeping her handwriting consistent across all of her subjects, improving her already very good handwriting as the year has progressed so that it is now consistently fantastic.

Well done Valentina!

Week 2 Star of the Week - Nicholas

This year, as a school, we have spent a lot of time focusing on the British Values, and Nicholas has shown excellent mutual respect throughout his time in Year 4, including adding excellent contributions to our class discussions about this topic.

Nicholas is a respectful, kind and caring member of our class, who is a friend to all and is selfless with his time and his knowledge. He is a fabulous role model for all in school, leading the way with his welcoming and kind behaviour.

Well done Nicholas!

Week 2 Star of the Week - Isla

This week our Star of the Week is somebody who works hard on their presentation, and Isla put lots of effort into creating beautifully presented work in all of her lessons. Isla takes pride in her work, and is an excellent role model for good presentation.

Her work is always well thought out, well written and of very high quality in all of her subjects.

Well done Isla!

Week 7 Star of the Week - Luke

This week our focus has been on pupil behaviour, and Luke is the perfect role model for good behaviour. He is always the first to get started with his work, he listens and contributes to lessons actively, his work is always completed to a very high standard and he is always polite and friendly.

Luke is a joy to have in the classroom, and a real asset both to Year 4 and the school!

Well done Luke!

Week 6 Star of the Week - Arta

Our star of the week, as voted for by Year 4 this week, is Arta. Children voted for him because:

  • He always works very hard and during table tasks he shares his knowledge. He also shares his answers with the class.

  • Because he works really hard which makes me want to work really hard

  • He is always nice and kind.

We would also like to add to the children's thoughts that Arta is a hard worker and he always has a smile on his face, he brightens up Year 4 and we are very happy to have him in our class.

Well done Arta!

Week 5 Star of the Week - Haris

We have chosen Haris this week as we believe he has demonstrated the Catholic Social Teaching principle of Dignity perfectly. We have looked in our RE lessons at the story of creation, and Haris has contributed some incredibly thoughtful and well written pieces of work about how we should respect and show dignity to all as we are all made in the image and likeness of God. He also contributed to a wonderful group presentation about respect and tolerance, speaking eloquently and confidently.

Well done Haris!

Week 4 Star of the Week - Shalom

Our focus this week has been on our Catholic Virtues of curious and active and Shalom embodies these virtues. She is always seeking to further her understanding, both in lesson and at home, often bringing us extra research that she has undertaken in her own time. She actively searches for ways to improve her school work, as well as keeping herself active' over the course of two Moki weeks Shalom has amassed over 18,000 steps over her two house team days!

Well done Shalom!

Week 3 Star of the Week - Damon

This week has been Moki band week at school and we have challenged the children to be active and energetic! Damon has been very full of energy, making sure to do lots of activities at break, lunch and Active 15 time, and amazing an amazing 13,000 steps in one school day!

He has risen to the challenge this week to be active and we are very impressed by his efforts in Year 4!

Well done Damon!

Week 2 Star of the Week - Sienna!

Our Star of the Week for week 2 is Sienna! The theme for this week was presentation, and Sienna is somebody who has already showed just how much pride and care she takes in her work. Her written work, maths work and diagrams in foundation lessons are all completed to a very high standard, and it is clear that Sienna actively works to make her work beautifully presented.

Well done Sienna!
