Learning, Living, Loving Together in Christ

Year 4 Prayer and Liturgy

Year 4 Prayer and Liturgy

In Year 4 the children work together to lead the prayer and liturgy times in our classroom.  Whether it is working together as a small team, or in a larger house team group, the children plan, prepare and deliver their prayers in a thoughtful way by linking it to different themes. The Prayer and Liturgy is split into 4 sections.

- Gather...

- Word...

- Response...

- Mission...

Spring 2 - Week 6

This week the children led a Prayer and Liturgy session about the 4th week of Lent - Laetare Sunday, also known as the week of joy. They focused on the parable of the Prodigal Son, as this parable links to forgiveness - an important theme during Lent. The children watched a video of this parable and they were then asked to write a prayer of joy. Following this, the children were asked to think about Jesus on the cross for 1 minute and how he would have suffered for us to forgive our sins and how thankful we should be. A well-planned and wonderful session led by this group. Well done!

Spring 2 - Week 5

This week the children led the Prayer and Liturgy session beautifully. They spoke about the season of Lent, and prayer specifically. They started the session with reflective music and gathering around the table. They asked children to come and light the candles to start the session. The class were given both group and individual tasks to complete and to wonder about.

Spring 2 - Week 4

This week the children led a Prayer and Liturgy session about prayer.
The children gathered the children during some reflective music and then spoke to them about prayer. They then asked the children to write a prayer of thanks to God.

Spring 2 - Week 3

This week the children led a Prayer and Liturgy session about the beginning of Christianity and the Good News. They started with a reflection, shared a short video and spoke about the importance of the Good News being spread, and how different the world would be if the disciples had not spread the Good News.
The children were then given a small task to complete - write a prayer of forgiveness or how you think you can spread the Good News to others.

Spring 2 - Week 2

This week the children led a Prayer and Liturgy session about Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.
As part of the Collective Worship, the children were given crosses to fill in with a response - what does Ash Wednesday mean to you?
