Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful...Louis

Louis has made such great progress in his reading fluency and expression and it is starting to be seen in his reading assessments too. It is so lovely to listen to him read and to hear him chuckle when he finds the book funny.

His hard work at home and in his every day reading with Mr Lahert is really paying off!

Well done, Louis!

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.. Whitney

The focus for this week’s star of the week is presentation and Whitney was an obvious choice for us all.  She works exceptionally hard at ensuring her work is always presented beautifully and takes her time over her handwriting.  We’re sure this award will now lead to a handwriting pen!

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.. Rose

We are delighted to give this award as she works so hard and never lets us down!

Her behaviour is exemplary and the other children really look up to her to see how to behave. Her manners are impeccable and she’s always ready to lend a helping hand.

Thank you, Rose.

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.. Aaliyah

We are delighted to give Andrea star of the week this week and, in truth, it could be for a whole host of reasons.  This week, it is for presentation!

Andrea’s presentation in her books is a sight to behold and every piece of work she produces is to the same excellent standard.  She approaches every task with the same determination and passion and this is clearly evident in the responses she gives in every subject.  The fact her work is always beautifully presented, is simply another compliment that we can give her!

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.. Aaliyah

Our star of the week was an easy decision for all three of us as, when we thought who is compassionate and loving in Year 5, one name immediately came to mind… Aaliyah!

Aaliyah is a wonderful member of our team with a beautiful big heart and whose smile brightens the classroom.  She is a warm-hearted friend to everyone in the class and she always shows compassion and care to everyone.

We are exceptionally lucky to have Aaliyah in our class and we are very proud of her.

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.. Harvey

Mr Read had the pleasure of choosing the star of the week this week and looked specifically at his after-school clubs.

Mr Read chose Harvey for the Year 5 star of the week and explained:

Harvey has shown great enthusiasm for badminton, a sport he was previously unfamiliar with, and a willingness to continually improve during each session.

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.. Evelyn

We’ve focused on ‘Our Common Home’ this week and the children made pledges to show how they could make a difference in caring for God’s planet.

Our star of the week went above and beyond, showing how you can reuse items to make something new.  Evelyn very proudly demonstrated here sewing skills, along with her recycling skills, to create a little pillow.  We were incredibly impressed with her ingenuity, especially as she practised her blanket stitch at the same time.

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.. Cassius

This week, we have been focusing on friendship and so we knew Cassius was the perfect choice for our star of the week.

We think Cassius is a friend to everyone – adults and children alike.  He is very tuned in to when someone is unhappy and is always there to offer a supportive hug.  This especially applies to staff, and we are so lucky to have him in our class.

He is a true friend to all and we are exceptionally proud of him!

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.. Eros

This week, we have been focusing on reading and the art of reading out loud.

We have been particularly impressed with Eros, who has demonstrated excellent clarity and fluency when he has been reading in class.  During our reading sessions, it has been wonderful to listen to him read with expression and use the punctuation in our texts effectively.

Eros, you are most definitely our star reader and we are very proud of you!

Our star of the week for this week is the fantastic.... Amelia

Mr Read was given the difficult task of selecting the star of the week this week and focused on the children who shine during our lunchtime and daily active sessions.  Mr Read chose Amelia as the Year 5 Active Star and we couldn't agree with him more.

"Amelia always gives her all during my lunchtime sports workouts.  Her fearless approach to sports and fitness is inspirational.  Amelia, keep up the great work!"

Well done Amelia.  We definitely see this commitment in the lessons too and we're very proud of how you tackle any challenge!

Our star of the week for this week is the amazing.... Cheska

This week, the children in Year 5 nominated their star of the week and they chose Cheska... and we couldn't agree more.  Here are some of the reasons why she is our shining star!

"She is caring when I am sad as she comes to ask what's wrong and asks to play.  She is a perfect role model and a perfect friend to everyone as she lets everyone play."

"Cheska always works really well in class."

"Cheska is always helping others and being kind."

"Cheska always works hard, answers questions in class and focuses on her work."

"Cheska has helped me spell tricky words, she has beautiful handwriting and always tries her best."

"She comforted me when I was crying and has helped me out a lot with lots of things."

Cheska, you are a joy to have in Year 5.  Well done!

Our star of the week for this week is the amazing.... Alfie

This week, we have been focusing on the children who have challenged themselves and Alfie is a perfect example of this.

Alfie has worked exceptionally hard this week on his handwriting and has made every effort to make each piece of work he completes, the neatest it can be.  The difference between his handwriting at the beginning of the year compared to now, shows that he really wants to make a change and his determination is certainly paying off.

Well done Alfie!

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.... Ionah

This week, we have been focusing on friendship and what it means to be a good friend to everyone.  Ionah embodies this as she is such a wonderful member of the Year 5 class and is a fantastic friend to everyone.

Ionah is a patient, kind, caring and very generous with her time and we see this is in the classroom on a daily basis.

Well done Ionah... a true friend to Year 5!

Our star of the week for this week is the wonderful.... Grace F

We have been really delighted with the way Grace has settled into Year 5 and even more delighted with the work she has produced.

Grace works hard in every lesson and focuses on the task she has to complete.  Each piece we have seen so far has been beautifully presented and it is clear she takes a lot of pride in her work.

Well done Grace... a fantastic start to Year 5!
