Enriching our children's lives
At St Rose, we want to provide our children with experiences that will enrich their lives, enhance our curriculum and provide them with opportunities to visit places that some may never be able to encounter. Regardless of background, we want to develop their strengths, skills and interests through their time in our school and give all our children the chance to thrive and succeed.
Through our carefully planned curriculum, we have made meaningful links which enable our children to be able to immerse themselves in the different topics.
- VR headsets allow us to take our children to far off places, explores different elements of the past and develop their language skills through immersive classroom experiences.
- All our children have two opportunities to enjoy our Forest School area as part of their DT curriculum. Scheduled for different seasons in the academic year, they can develop their tool handling skills whilst also enhancing their team-building skills through the variety of activities designed for them.
- Our academic calendar has workshops scheduled that take place in school, delivered by external companies, which provide our children with the chance to learn new skills and information from experts and these are then transferred into the classroom.
- Our annual retreat day, either during the season of Advent or Lent, enables the whole school to take the time to reflect and consider the importance of this liturgical season and the part that we need to play in it.
- Our class visits have been carefully chosen so that our children are able to visit local places of interest that enhance their curriculum, along with providing an experience that they may not be able to have outside of school.
- We have a calendar of sporting events that provide all our children with the chance to take part in a range of different activities.
- We offer our children the chance to perform in different concerts through our links with our local Catholic secondary school and the Birmingham Youth Proms.
- Our after-school club program gives our children the chance to meet with other children from other year groups and develop their skills in different sports, choir, and sign language.
The table below details the wide variety of opportunities and experiences we provide our children in St Rose.

Enrichment wish
In keeping with our focus on the Catholic Virtues, each class has their own 'wish' that they are hoping demonstrates their use of the virtues. As a school, we look to show our use of the virtues in all that we do. With this in mind, we have an 'enrichment wish' for the whole school...
To live out Pope Francis' teaching and help to care for our Common Home.
If you would like to know more about what it means to 'Live wisely, think deeply, love generously' then please click on the picture above to watch a cartoon where the charity CAFOD helps us to understand what Pope Francis asks of us.
Will you play your part to look after our common home?
Can you take simple everyday eco-actions to care for the earth, like turning off lights, reducing water waste and recycling?
And will you live more simply, reducing the amount of things we buy and throw away, so that we don’t take more than our fair share?
