 The Youth Proms! 

 

Well...what can we say? What a night ’at the movies’! On Wednesday 17^th July the school choir performed with 350 other children as part of the Music Service Youth Proms 2019 at the Symphony Hall. The Symphony Hall is one of the most prestigious concert halls in the world and our children were so lucky to experience performing there.

We had a wonderful time performing 6 songs, including ‘Waterloo’ and ‘We are the champions’. We especially enjoyed when the audience (2000 people) sang back to us and lit up the hall with their phones. It was truly magical!

The choir also really enjoyed watching other musicians such as the concert orchestra who then accompanied us for our big finale. What a way to close the show!

 

Miss Arnold and I are so incredibly proud of you all. You worked so, so hard and all the hard work really did pay off. You sang beautifully!

 

We very much look forward to taking part in lots more opportunities like this with our fabulous choir in the future. Well done once again and thank you to all the parents/carers who came to watch the concert last night. We really hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

The tickets for the Youth Proms concert at Birmingham Symphony Hall have now gone on sale. The concert is on Wednesday 17th July. Please follow the link below to buy tickets.

The St Rose choir are singing on Wednesday 17th July, so please ensure you select this date when purchasing tickets.

The tickets cost £13 or £8 for 17 year olds and under.

 

A letter with further information regarding purchasing tickets for the concert will be given out on Monday 3rd June (the first day back)!

 Choir letter - Youth Proms  

 

Dear Parents / Carers,

 

Choir - Youth Proms at the Symphony Hall

The choir have been offered a fantastic opportunity to take part in the Youth Proms. This would mean singing with a number of other school choirs from across Birmingham at the Symphony Hall in the city centre - one of Europe’s finest performance venues. The theme for this year is ‘Songs From the Movies’ and there are lots of well-known tunes for us to sing our hearts out to! This will be an unforgettable experience for the children and we are very excited to start preparing for it in our choir rehearsals.

In the lead up to the performance the children will take part in a rehearsal at Ladywood Arc church on Wednesday 19th June from 9.30am until 2.30pm. The children will travel by coach to and from the rehearsal.

The performance (concert) will take place on Wednesday 17th July. The children will be at the Symphony Hall from 2.30pm until the end of the concert at 9.15pm. The children will travel to the Symphony Hall by coach, but you will need to make arrangements to pick up your children from the Symphony Hall when the concert has finished at 9.15pm.

If you would like to come and watch your child performing in the concert, there will be tickets available to purchase and you will be notified as soon as these are available.

As we are sure you will understand, due to the high standard which is expected from all schools, it is important that if children agree to take part they attend all choir rehearsals in school and the rehearsal at Ladywood Arc prior to the performance at the Symphony Hall.

School choir rehearsals will continue to take place on a Wednesday after school from 3.30pm until 4.15pm. Rehearsals will start again from tomorrow (Wednesday 8th May).

The cost to cover transport for both days will be £5.00.

If you would like your child to take part in the concert, please complete the slip below and return to the school office by Thursday 9th May.

Choir trip - Youth Proms at the Symphony Hall

I give permission for my child ___________________________________________ in Year……….. to attend the rehearsal at Ladywood Arc on Wednesday 19 th June and to take part in the concert at the Symphony Hall on Wednesday 17 th July.

I will be making arrangements for my child to be picked up by a parent/carer at 9.15pm on Wednesday 17 th July from the Symphony Hall.
