World Book Day
In Spring 2, we had World Book Week as our reading for pleasure event. During this week, we had many different events in school, all to do with Reading, which children and parents could get involved in. We had A Book, A Brew and A Bake, and Books for Breakfast, where children could come in with their families, have a warm drink and some scrummy cakes or toast and snuggle up with a good book.
We also had World Book Day where the children came in their PJS, ready to snuggle up with a book. On this day we hosted a whole range of reading activities for the children such as Book Speed Dating, Making Story Scenes, Making Book Trailers and Enjoying Reading Cafes. The children also enjoyed hot chocolate during their library time, had reading buddies and enjoyed reading with members of another year group and had parent secret readers come in and read with certain groups of children.
You can see photos below of the fantastic events and activities we had in our World Book Week and we wish to thank all of the children and parents for their support. It was so wonderful to see so many of our families immersed in Reading and enjoying Reading for pleasure and enjoyment, which is so important.
