Online Safety Resources and Information for Parents

Keeping your Child Safe Online

At Our Lady and St Rose of Lima Primary School, E Safety is a vital part of our everyday life in School. It is something that we pupils, staff and even parents need to be aware of as children are spending more and more time using technology. Parents/carers, teachers, anyone supporting the learning of children today need to ensure they are up-to-date with new technologies and actively look for resources to help ensure that children are using technology, including the internet, safely.

The internet opens up a world of entertainment, opportunity and knowledge. It is really important that parents and carers work with us to ensure children stay safe in their use of technology. When we talk about e-Safety, we are not just talking about the internet. We are talking about the use of computers, games consoles (such as X-Box), mobile phones, televisions, tablets (such as the iPad) and many other things.

It is our duty as a school to ensure that our children are up to date with current and ever changing E-Safety issues and have a clear understanding on how to prevent incidents and what they should do if they do have any incidents. We have a very strict policy when it comes to E-Safety and all of our children and staff agree and sign an  Acceptable Use Policy when they sign onto any laptop or computing device in the school,  to safeguard the interests of all of those associated,

We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with you to ensure the e-safety message is consistent. Your help is needed to talk to your children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online. So we have put together a list of useful documents and websites to help you keep you children safe online. At the top of the page above I have given links to recommended websites and documents with lots of further information for parents, to ensure that you are ensuring that your child is safe while surfing or online at home.
