Life in Year 4
DT Spring 2
This half term in our DT lessons we have looked at circuits and product design. The children created their own torch designs, following design criteria, and then created their own torches! They built working circuits, and used old plastic bottles to create the housing of their torches.
The whole class worked really hard to create their torches, and their teamwork was excellent too!
Well done Year 4!
Ukulele - Spring 1
This half term we have been carrying on our ukulele lessons with Mr Reed, learning lots of new skills on the ukulele and learning how to read music! We have also practiced singing and playing at the same time, with the class Beatles song "Yellow Submarine".
Year 4 have been working very hard to learn new chords and have clearly been practicing hard at home!
Forest School - Autumn 1 and 2
Over the past few weeks Year 4 have been lucky enough to have some amazing Forest School sessions with Miss Mapother (although we have been less lucky with the weather!). Pupils have tried their hand at den building, orienteering and fire making, all whilst building their teamworking skills (and getting VERY muddy!). We have enjoyed looking at our surroundings, learning about the natural world and we feel very grateful for our time in Forest School.
LEGO Spike! DT - Autumn 1
For our first DT topic this year, Year 4 have had the opportunity to use LEGO Spike! LEGO Spike is a coding app, which allows pupils to program a LEGO "brain" with all sorts of commands! Pupils used their LEGO Spike kits to create buses, chairlifts and helicopters! We then evaluated our designs and adjusted our models and codes to make sure they met our needs.
Well done Year 4!
